Learn to Coach
Coaches make our world go round! Without dedicated coaches, we wouldn’t be able to train.
As we lose graduating coaches each year, we are looking to train up new coaches as much as we can. To support this, our more experienced coaches act as mentors to reinforce everything you learn on the courses, and apply it to real training sessions. We also provide financial support, helping you get these qualifications for extremely cheap compared to the price you’d have to pay out of pocket. This support is a mixture of Coaching and Volunteering Academy funding from EUSU and a contribution from the club.
All we ask is that you commit to helping coach with us if we’ve helped fund your course.
Level 1
This course will teach you the basics of coaching and enable you to coach moves below a somersault, such as front/back landings and 3/4 turnovers. You’ll do four virtual sessions with an instructor taking you through the content, and then your mentor will help you to complete a logbook and submit a video of your coaching. Once you’ve passed the course, you’ll be able to join us as an Assistant Coach, working under a Level 2 Coach.
This course would usually cost £295. However, upon a successful application to the CVA, the EUSU can cover £95 and the club will cover £100. This means that you can get a recognised coaching qualification, that you can take to any club, for just £100 – a third of the usual cost.

Level 2
This course will further your knowledge and skills learnt at Level 1, allowing you to take responsibility of sessions. You’ll become a more independent and professional coach, and be able to teach gymnasts more difficult skills. The course comprises four in-person learning days, and then you’ll spend a few months working with your mentor on a logbook, before undertaking a live practical assessment of your coaching.
If you complete this course through us, it is heavily subsidised – you’ll only pay £150. This is an enormous discount on the £565 price tag (over 70%!), which we achieve through EUSU funding, Scottish Gymnastics subsidy, and club contributions.
