Semester 2 Round Up 2024/25

This semester has been so much fun here at EUTC! With the year drawing to a close and our last session complete, we would like to take a look over what the second half of this student year had in store for us…

During welcome (back) week, we held some more taster sessions for those who were interested in trampolining and gained some new members!

Our first social of the semester was a night to remember as it was our New Members Rep’s social! It has been iconically dubbed “Dobby Night”, and I doubt anyone is forgetting Máté’s Dobby mask any time soon.

This semester, EUTC dressed to impress at the University of Edinburgh Sports Ball, which was such a good night! Our Head Coach, Elinor, took home the Services to Sport Award. Well done Elinor!

Next on the agenda was SSTO where we had the biggest turn out of competitors this year, and an incredible 18 medallists! It was an awesome competition for Edinburgh, and the socials were so much fun, we can’t wait for next year!

Race Night was a huge hit and an incredible £587.24 was raised for Slurp! Thank you to everyone who helped organise the evening and to those who donated raffle prizes and horse races. The evening was so lovely, everyone looked dashing!

Our AGM was held in February, and it was a bittersweet moment of saying goodbye to the old committee and welcoming in the new committee. We got to hear about what a great year EUTC has had and the highlights, as well as saying goodbye to the members who are graduating this year. Well done to everyone who ran for positions and to those who were appointed as new committee, you’ve got this!

The next competition was BUCS where an amazing turnout of 15 competitors from Edinburgh travelled down to Sheffield for the competition. Well done to everyone who attended, you’re all super stars!

Back to socials, EUTC held a pancake day social, with an added bonus of a pancake day training session! As it was EUTC’s well-being week (appointed as mid-term stress was high), we had training sessions with pancakes, bring-a-friend sessions, and compliment cards to keep people going.

Up next we had the NEUT competition in Manchester where a good handful of our members went to compete. Well done everyone! You guys showed some incredible moves!

As exam stress was getting to us, EUTC had a couple of chill socials at Frankenstein’s, which was a great way to take the mind off of studying for a little while.

League 3 at St Andrews was right around the corner, along with the long awaited Bouncy Ball! So many medals were won, and a team medal for Edinburgh! Bouncy Ball was such an amazing night, with Mathilda winning member of the year, Máté winning the Intermediate Men’s shield, and Daniel winning Highest Difficulty. Well done to you all!

EUTC joined Edinburgh Uni Gymnastics for a joint Ninja Warrior themed social! We’ll definitely be attending again.

To get some energy out during exam season, we had a karaoke night! That was so much fun, and a great way to get everyone together.

Our last competition was ISTO, where the club travelled all the way to Galway in Ireland! I think it’s fair to say that it was an incredible trip, with brilliant routines and lots of fun had doing sightseeing and socialising!

Lastly, the club hosted a Blood Drive, with Chloe, Mathilda and Lily all giving blood to the cause. They said it was a smooth and comfortable experience and they were well looked after by the team. Well done girls!

Finally, we at EUTC want to say thank you to everyone who has taken part in training and socials this year, you’ve all been so lovely and amazing! Also thank you to the committee for making sure the club can run as smoothly as possible, especially the executive committee for keeping us right! Also thank you to our sponsors this year, Frankensteins and Love Wednesdays for making our mid weeks that much more entertaining. Finally, a huge thank you goes to our coaches who have given up so much time to help others progress in their training, we all appreciate you so much!

Goodbye to everyone who is graduating or spending a year abroad next year, we will miss you all dearly. For everyone else, we hope to see you next year!
