Charities

EUTC is proud to support a variety of charities and local good causes. Every year, we hold a charity Race Night in support of our chosen charity.

24/25: Slurp Edinburgh

Slurp is a society of Edinburgh-based students committed to taking action for housing justice.

23/24: Sanitree

Sanitree is student run charity that tackles period poverty and the stigma surrounding menstruation in a sustainable, collaborative and ethical way. Menstruation is something that over half the world’s population has to deal with and should not be surrounded in shame and misinformation. We are proud to support a charity that tackles these issues not just in our Edinburgh community but internationally too.

We were delighted to raise £568 at Race Night for Sanitree!

22/23: SupportED

SupportED provide support groups and befriending for people with eating disorder and those that care for people with one throughout Scotland. Eating disorders are a common problem among gymnasts, which is why we at EUTC chose this particular charity to aid those suffering and raise awareness.

We were proud to raise £585.55 at Race Night for SupportED!

21/22: Conscious Edinburgh

This year we decided to support Conscious Edinburgh, a student-led mental health charity. Conscious run mental health first-aid courses for members of clubs and societies at the Univeristy of Edinburgh. Mental health and wellbeing is something we care deeply about in our club so we were thrilled to be supporting an organisation who also have providing support for students as a priority.

We were pleased to raise £459.65 at Race Night for Conscious Edinburgh!

20/21: Hopscotch Children’s Charity

HopScotch Children’s Charity provides free respite breaks for children who are living in Scotland. They give children a break from their home environments by offering them a memory-making holiday at Ardvullin, a beautiful respite centre in the Scottish Highlands. Their work is focused on vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

This year, we were unable to hold our Race Night as normal. Instead, we ran, walked, and cycled our way the distance from Edinburgh to the respite centre in Fort William, and back. Though this was a disatance of 428km, the club banded together and travelled a whopping 1622.89km, almost four times the original goal!

This effort raised an incredible £769 for Hopscotch!

19/20: Shelter Scotland

Shelter Scotland works to defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society. They provide advice on housing and homelessness, and campaign for changes to housing policy. We decided to support Shelter because housing, especially in Edinburgh, can be such a massive issue for students and young people.

We were ecstatic to raise £636.76 at our inaugural Race Night for Shelter Scotland!
